White River Trout Fishing

Fishing The White River
There have been many good times spent between families at the white river trout fishing and simply spending good times together.   There are different types of fish to be caught here, for instance, the award winning brown trout. These fish will come in a size of about a foot to a foot and a half long.  Most often a rainbow trout will be the most common fish caught here. The average size of a rainbow will be right around 12 inches.  Give or take a few.   Both large and small mouth bass will be found in this river, as well as sunfish and catfish.  There are a number of different types of fish here.

The fishing at White River which is located in Northern Arkansas is good all year round, although, many people will tell you that the fall is the best time, because the fish will be spawning that time of year.  There are many big fish in this river.  Patience is the key if you want one of the big ones.  The biggest rainbow fish caught here average right around 19 pounds.  The bigger browns are around forty pounds.  The bigger ones are in there, they are just waiting.

If you will be fishing in the Bull Shoals area, between the dam and the state park, this is a catch and release area only.  Only artificial lures and flies in this area, and you are not allowed to keep a brown trout that is under 16 inches in length.  There is 100 miles of river here, with many places to buy bait and tackle, as well as some places to lie your head down at night.

Boats are not uncommon to see along the White River, this is actually the best way to get to all of the hot spots.  Using waders is not a good idea, unless you can see the bottom of the river.  The river can be very fast running and will take you out of control is you are not careful.  The weather will average around 50 degrees all year long, and the busiest time of year would be from late fall to early spring.
